Most common Spanish greetings

If you’re getting tired of asking ¿Cómo estás? every time you start a conversation in Spanish, then try some of these useful phrases out to impress your Spanish language partner:

¿Todo bien? - All’s good? What’s great about this greeting is the response is the same, ¡Todo bien!

¿Cómo te va? - How’s it going (for you)? Another casual way of asking how someone’s doing without using ¿Cómo estás?

¿Qué me cuentas? - What’s new? If you’re more interested in hearing what’s happening in someone’s life, this is a great way to find out.

¿Qué tal? - What’s up? Just like you shouldn’t think too much into the meaning of this English greeting, don’t think about this Spanish one and just use it!

There are plenty of greetings like these in Spanish, so you shouldn’t get stuck on just using one. Thirsty for more Spanish expressions to use in your conversations? Check out our current class schedule, with workshops starting at just $15! Stop sounding like a gringo and more like a nativo!
