For seven years, Professor Mirian “Mili” Cuellar has been a cornerstone of the Spanish Learning Network. Her warmth, creativity, and tireless dedication have made her a favorite teacher among students of every age and level. Many of us have learned more than just Spanish from Mirian... we’ve learned compassion, patience, and the joy of connecting across cultures.
Today, Mirian and her family need our help.
On September 1, 2025, the day after Mirian's beautiful wedding celebration in Colorado, her brother Salvador Cuellar was involved in a devastating car accident in Honduras. Because of ongoing travel restrictions, Miran's family could not attend her wedding, and now they are facing an unimaginable crisis from afar.
Salvador’s injuries are severe, including a punctured lung and a life-threatening infection that has led to sepsis. In Honduras, intensive-care treatment is not covered by public health services and his ICU stay costs roughly $2,000 USD per day. Without payment, care can be denied.
How You Can Help
The Cuellar family has already exhausted their resources. We invite our Spanish Learning Network community and friends everywhere to come together and support Mili’s family during this critical time.

Why It Matters
Mili has given so much to our students: Tirelessly working all summer for our summer camp children, often leaving right on time to host late-evening classes for adults with her joyful energy that lights up every class. She has helped hundreds of people embrace Spanish and connect with the broader Latin American world.
Now it’s our turn to share our amor.
Let’s stand with Mili.Every donation—large or small—helps keep Salvador in the care he desperately needs.
Gracias for supporting our beloved professor and her family in this moment of urgency.
